Award-Winning Country Music star Trisha Yearwood came to spend the afternoon at St. Mary's School on May 24, 2011. She met with various student groups as part of a panel of music industry professionals. The Verfuss Family was treated to a special Meet & Greet in appreciation for entering our school into the contest that resulted in the visit. Finally, Ms. Yearwood performed for parents, as well as all students and staff, in the Deke McEvoy Gymnasium. In addition, SMS was awarded 100,000 bonus points from Labels for Education to use toward purchasing items to support music in our school. Ms. Yearwood was extremely gracious, and we were truly blessed to have this experience. She was joined by guitarist Jonny Garcia, music videographer Hadaya Turner, and Grammy Foundation VP Scott Goldman. They all shared their experiences, and encouraged children to follow their dreams.
